Valuers and surveyors are called into disputes every day — inheritance and partition cases, expropriation and compensation, rent and lease disputes, shareholder and M&A valuations, construction and insurance claims, and arbitrations seated in Cairo, Dubai, London or Paris. The moment your opinion is put before a judge or an arbitral tribunal, you stop being the client's adviser and become the tribunal's expert. The rules of that role are strict, and a report that ignores them is worth very little in the hearing room.

This programme teaches those rules. It is built lesson by lesson on the RICS practice statement and guidance note Surveyors acting as expert witnesses (4th edition, amended 2023) — the mandatory duties in PS 1–10 and the good practice in GN 1–21 — and applies them to Egyptian practice under Law 96/1952 on experts before the courts, the Evidence Law 25/1968 and the Arbitration Law 27/1994, and to international arbitration under the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence and the CIArb protocol for party-appointed experts.

This programme covers a different RICS standard: the duties of a surveyor or valuer who gives expert evidence inside those processes.
